Every Party Needs a Little Fluff

I have no idea why it’s called Watergate Salad, but here’s one theory and another recipe. I think it falls into the “fluff” category…
Watergate Salad
1 3.4 oz box instant pistachio pudding mix
1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 ½ cups miniature marshmallows
1 12 0z carton lite frozen whipped topping, thawed
½ cup chopped pecans
Optional ingredients:
½ cup flaked coconut
½ cup maraschino cherries, drained
In a large bowl, combine pudding mix and pineapple; mix well. Add marshmallows and thawed whipped topping. Fold in the nuts and any optional ingredients of your choice. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
