"Miss Teen South Carolina", grits, Humor, Southerners

Starvation, by Beverly Hicks Burch

Starvation

By Beverly Hicks Burch

After watching on the news for the 1, 789, 377th time a tidbit about Americans getting fatter and proudly pointing out Southerners are the most rotund of all Americans, the broadcast then followed up with a video clip for the one billionth time of perky, blond, very thin Miss Teen South Carolina answering the question why a certain percentage of Americans can not locate the United States of America on a map.

After brilliantly babbling on for several painful minutes about “U. S. Americans” “Osama” “South Africa” and “Iraq” “and the Asian countries” among other things, her dazzling dissertation was over.

I’ve decided the answer to the problem is…brain starvation…sad, but true.

Yeah, I know…dark humor, Bev…but, please…do not let this happen to your teen!

    1. Well, this is true…she certainly is an attractive young woman, but unfortunately having just looks to fall back on is a pretty shaky life plan. Looks can go south pretty fast in some cases. Some people just don’t age well, or have to money to take care of themselves. There’s always the specter hanging over our heads of a maiming accident or failing health. Yep, if I was her I would still beef up the old gray matter and maybe develop a skill or talent…
