Container Gardening – Continued…

By Beverly Hicks Burch

I decided to try my hand at a little container gardening this year. Right now I have a huge sunny deck for all of my pots…and it seems to be paying off.

I’ve mentioned my love for fresh summer tomatoes, so this year I’m trying several different varieties. I have baby tomatoes people! Jet, Better boy, Husky Red (a little grape or cherry tomato) and Roma tomatoes…my mouth is watering as I write…

I have peppers…Jalapeno peppers, and bell peppers and herbs…rosemary, three kinds of basil, parsley, cilantro and mint…

Although I’ve had to do my fair share of tending and watering we’ve been blessed with a decent amount of rain. As a matter of fact we’ve had some downright storms. One storm left a few trees down in the area over last weekend…

Last Saturday after a heavy night rain, I went out to check my little secret garden and discovered I really needed to stake up some of my tomato plants. I was really taken aback by how green, fresh and big things were looking.

I just can’t wait for my first bite…

    1. Thanks Jack!

I’ve found container gardening…so far…is the route to go for me. I have so many little tomatoes and peppers it’s exciting! and the herbs! Wow! Tasty. too. I’ve been using the mint in English peas and it is fantastic. Made a lot of pasta with fresh basil…can’t be beat. Now can’t wait to use the rosemary and dill 🙂
