Blanket Flower, by Beverly Hicks Burch

Blanket Flower B

Gaillardia aristata also know as the common blanket flower, is a perennial native to much of Northern and Western North America. This little flower is in the sunflower family and is drought tolerant. It is often thought of as being a prairie flower. The indigenous people of the Plateau Tribes were known to use the Blanket flower to treat wounds and fevers.

What makes this one so special? I found this little Blanket flower along with many others thriving on the side of the road along A1A along the scenic drive on the humid Florida Coastline.

Definitely  resilient…definitely a survivor…
