It’s been a long and cold fall and winter around the Burch household. Tall & Handsome had major life saving surgery. So, life has intervened and pushed aside my writing for a season.
But, man does not live by bread and water alone, so activity in the kitchen carries on.
So, stop by The BamaSteelMagnolia’s Bistro and check out some of the latest recipes.
I’m still playing catch up with my recipe reference posts and today’s post is a yummy and super easy corn soup. I have loved corn since I was a wee lass and my Papaw grew it in his garden. Back then out in the country folks called corn on the cob “roastin’ ears”.
This soup is easy and doesn’t required many ingredients but the pay off is big in taste. I also get to use T & H’s immersion blender (stick blender) which is a whole lot of fun to use and beats dragging out the big ole counter top model!
Today I’m sharing a new Chinese stir fry over at The BamaSteelMagnolia’s Bistro. Chinese New Year started on Jan. 23 and it just happened to coincide with a strong hankering Tall & Handsome and I had for Chinese. T & H gave Stir Fried Pork with Honey, Ginger and Lime a thumbs up, so we’ll probably be having it again.

Got a brand new recipe over at The BamaSteelMagnolia’s™ Bistro today. Recently I cooked up a batch of Beer Baked Northern Beans with Rosemary for Tall & Handsome and me. The recipe was inspire by one I saw in Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food. We’ve deemed it a keeper and liked it with pumpernickel bread but I’m sure cornbread or any variety of your favorite bread would be super!
